I'll admit it. I am SPOILED ROTTEN!

I had an opportunity to go to Lake Norman this past weekend to ride in some Mastercraft boats with the good people at Charlotte Ski Boats. They had Scott Byerly doing some riding while promoting his boards. First off, a Great BIG thanks to Charlotte Ski Boats for allowing anyone that wanted to ride, a free ride. I saw several people learn to surf for the first time as well as many experienced surfers having a great time. It happened to be National pass the handle day and was absolutely beautiful, The temps weren't even too much for this mountain girl. Now, for the part about me being spoiled... I never in my life have seen a lake that crowded. I could see multiple power turns being churned up simultaneously. CSB had 3 boats running, mainly at surf speed, with a rude dude in a great looking supra literally running circles around the mastercraft boats. I'm wondering if rude dude was the charlotte area supra dealer. Between all of that there were boats zig zagging with tubers in tow, pontoons just putting about and family runabouts running about, Everywhere. I lost the wave once and was told it was because we hit a low spot and the water was 6' deep. All I could think was WOW. I had a great time but my lake is nice, sparsely populated with little boat traffic. So I openly admit I am a spoiled rotten surfer and am okay with admitting it!

now to my thoughts on mastercraft.... The X46 had a monster wave that I could get used to. The gen 2 seemed to do its job well, I had a great long wave that wasn't real steep but has plenty of push. The other boat I got to go on was the X20. Even though the boat has the technology of Gen 2, we definitely had to move weight around in the boat to get a good goofy side wave. The wave reminded me more of my own boat in that the wave was more steep and not as long but had a good amount of width. The pocket was large and I found the wave to be quite playful. I think the upholstery was great looking and would be curious to see its cleanability. I remember why I hate snap in carpet - I don't like stepping on snaps. I would have liked to drive both of these boats to see how they handle because it felt like they had plenty of power but, imo, the drivers had nothing like finesse in their driving skill set so I cant decide if it was because they were just driving for the event and had no reason to drive that way or if it was the boat. Fit and finish was pretty awesome, everything was tight and nothing about the boats looked cheap. They were so busy I didn't get a chance to look at what powered these two boats but all in all it was a great weekend. glad to be home, says the spoiled girl :)

This is why we only boat during the week or after all the crazies have left Norman.
