Adjusting idle - 09 Hammerhead

Recommended Posts

My boat has always ran a little rough right at 650rpm, there is a clunking noise every once and a while that will occur when idling. (I think this is normal with the HH engine....?)

If I go up to about 800rpm the clunking noises don't happen.

Is it possible to adjust my idle speed up a little bit?

Thank you! Lots of help on here lately.

No, you can't change the idle RPM. The idle speed is programmed into the engine computer and is not adjustable. The 383 lopes a bit at idle because of the camshaft. The clunking is probably the gears in the trans/v-drive clashing at idle. When you increase the RPM the noise goes away because the gear teeth are "loaded". Nature of the beast!!!
