correct procedure for loading software update to boat?

Recommended Posts

So I have updates on separate USB sticks for the Viper and the Touch Screen. What is the correct procedure for downloading each to the the boat? I can see the the USB port for the Viper/Medallion Box under dash and the one coming from the touch screen. I have 2014 VTX with 350.

I searched the threads and can't seem to find this even though I thought I had read it before. Is it as simple as loading the stick and going to "update software" in set up screen? Do I need to have the engine start code entered? When do I put the stick in? Does it matter? Thanks.

Granted mine is a '10, but when I did mine I had to have the key in the "run" position for power. I went to the "update" section and selected "update", plugged in the stick per the instructions and followed the on screen directions, which were few if not just a one button push action. I went back in to check the version to confirm the update and viola, it was done. For those wanting to know I beleive V23 is the latest and greatest for that my MY with the 350.

I used a mac to drop the .mem files onto to the stick from my dealer's email. Maybe that the issue. But the My Touch one worked fine. Thanks. I'll try a windows machine.

Battery on

Plug flash drive into USB coming from the touch screen wire bundle (should be white color)

turn boat power on and it will be automatic

or

select switch from lower left of screen and scrowl down to upload

eith worked for me

FYI all. You MUST unzip/ extract the compressed files from Malibu on a Windows machine then put them on the USB stick. Once I did that it worked.
