Alternator? Funny story

So I noticed my guage was reading 12.5 instead of the usual 13.5. Of course thinking worst started checking voltage, first at battery and then at alternator..... Both fine even under extra load. So WTH...... While double checking connection at alternator black wire falls off the post with barely a touch. Reattached with new connector and I'm back to 13.5 on the guage. It's the little things. Made my day!

Lucky, mine just went last weekend. I upped it to the newer 70 AMP and didn't realize it had an internal regulator much unlike my old one. So I had to snip off my coolant temperator sensor pigtail off my 6.5 diesel truck to splice into the new one. Lucky for me I had a chevy kicking around with the same type of connectors. Like you said, it's the little things that keep ya going!

My volt gauge was off this week too. I figured it would be the alternator brushes or voltage regulator (which I've changed before many years ago). The lower bracket of the alternator cracked at a bend. Belt was barely spinning it. Original Mando 55Amp alternator still kicking since 1990.
