Wetsound Tower Speaker Issue - Need Help

Recommended Posts

Hey Crew,

I'm having a tower speaker issue and am hoping someone here can help. I have a set of Wet sound Pro 485's on my tower. Last weekend they stopped working. The weird thing is they are still playing but at a very low volume. When I have the volume all the way up you can just barley hear the speakers on the back deck. The amp light is green and not blinking. I have checked RCA's, amp gain, head unit volume, fuses, remote wires, wire connections at the speaker. I cant seem to find anthing wrong. If they had just quite working all together it would make sense, but since the are still playing at a very low volume I am at a loss. Has anyone else experienced this? Im hoping someone has some advise.

Thanks for the help

Ryan

Sounds like the tweeters have quite working, but thats odd that both would at the same time. I would Ohm the pods, wire up a test speaker to the amp chnls to see is its still putting put a full range signal. Swap RCAs with the in-boat amp to see if the head-unit is still putting out a full range signal.

Also you can try to plug ipod directly into amp via rca to headphone jack cable. That will isolate it to either amp issue or speaker issue. If it works fine hooked up directly to ipod, then it would be the head unit or Input source issue.

My ken wood head unit has a setting that you can change that does that to mine. It can change either the Tower (rear) or the inboats (front) to all but muted. I found this out during install as I had everything up and running and was cleaning up wires and my 14 year old was playing around and yells that he broke it. I worked on the head unit for about 1/2 hour going through setting and stumbled upon it.
