Surf wave: my 06 vlx vs. 11 x2?

Friend of mine which I boat with a lot has a 2011 x2 with stock 3 tank ballast Center and rears.

Mine is a stock 4 tanks mls with no extra sacs as of yet....

Just wondering am I doing something wrong or does his hull just have a much better surf wave?

I fill surf side Center and front wedge down. he fills his Center and surf side.

Today we had both boats out and equal amount of people on surf side seats (4)

His wave was much bigger and had way more push and a bigger pocket. Mine kinda felt like a baby compared to it and I was just surprised how much bigger his was. I managed a 360 on his today but was having a bit of a hard time even staying in the pocket and going rope less on my boat.

Just the nature of the beast and I need some 750s in my rear lockers or what do you guys think am I setting her up wrong??

add 750 bag in the rear trunk and 400lb bag under the side seat (port side), fill your bow ballast to half and you will get a steep wake, adjust the length of it with your speed (slower=shorter, faster=longer). Use to have the same boat and the wake was amazing. Good luck.

Wish I was goofy footed! Ahah

But thanks guys gives me some confidence for my surf wave I'll start with adding ballast!

Also what do you guys think if I'm adding 750 rear and 400 or so port side will my 537 prop be able to handle this? Will it be to hard on the engine or tranny or should I start looking at a 1235. For now with all mls full is all I need for my wakeboard wake as I'm still more of a beginner can only wake to wake and the 537 does fine for that, just wondering more for surfing with the added weight??

Thanks again!
