2009 VTX MaliView Screen Problem

Recommended Posts

I have been having alot of problems with my MaliView center screen. When the boat is turned on, it seems to work fine. As soon as you start out on the boat, the screen will start scrolling quickly from top to bottom or it will completely re-boot. Usually, the boat will continue without a problem even though you cannot read the screen because it is scrolling from top to bottom so quickly. On occasion, when using a preset for surfing or wakeboarding, the speed control is lost because the screen reboots or starts scrolling just as you start to pull someone out of the water.

I have had my local malibu guys take a look at it but they have not been able to help me out with a fix. This problem has been ongoing for the last couple of years but this year, it has gotten alot worse. In the past, the problem would typically occur if the boat and carpet got wet from use. Once everything dried out, the problem would stop. This year, the problem has been ongoing from the beginning of the year. I do know that my boat unfortunatley got a bunch of moisture in it during the winter. I am sure this is a part of the problem but the boat has been dry for sometime and the problem continues.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If moisture related sounds like electrical connections down by the engine as you mentioned the issue is more persistent when everything is wet.

I have not had the need to search for these but it would not hurt to systematically remove, clean with some terminal spray, re connect the electrical connections one by one using electrical grease. I used common Vaseline when I re did the c

Light connections on the boat trailer last season, so far so good so the Vaseline does not appear to affect connectivity.

May find one with a lot of moisture or corrosion.

There aren't many connections behind the dash, just usually one or two plugs on each screen should you wish to check these as well.

Some of the connections can be tricky working out what to push or pull to allow them to release.

Good luck, be keen to hear any feedback of the issue

Bottom of the resources page is a manual on the computron which may help

Apart from that, al I can suggest is to slowly work through checking each connection.

I recall a service notification regarding fuse holders becoming loose.

Hey guys!!! Have the same problem with Maliview!!!

Look:

During the exploitation of the Malibu boat, during the riding or stand
still the Maliview screen computer restart without permission.
It's may be ok for 1 hour or it's may be problem 2 times in minute.
I drive and drive and then all gauges are off, for 1-2 sec and than return to the preious conditions! This happends 2-3 times in MINUTE! It's
awfull! BUT!!! The boat is OK! It's continued move on the selected
speed! ))) I try to watch all connector - it's OK! What is that!?

Hey, I want to video mine too..that way the dealer can see what it does, mine is a 2013 and it just goes haywire. I'll be pull the Maliview and reconnecting all the connections and re-lubing. Hope that gets it.

Any info on this screen issue of the screen turning off and then rebooting and coming back on while driving or at rest? Only lasts 1-2 seconds for screen to reboot. Doesn’t affect boat function while using it. My 2009 screen is doing this now and I can’t find the cause or issue. Anyone have any suggestions?

What have you done so far to diagnose it?

I would start with a volt meter and make sure that it has a reliable power source.  Or just reach under the dash and jiggle the wires to see if it happens.
