Replace Perfect Pass Gauge and Control Module…'04 Sunscape

Arctic Slalom

Recommended Posts

Crew,

Haven't had the boat out yet this season.

long story, building a lake cabin, etc. Boat is about 6 hours away at farm.

Next week heading down to farm to pull it out and replace (failing) perfect pass LCD gauge and master control.

I bought new ones from Perfect Pass guys about two months ago.

Any insight before I take this apart?

I've never had the dash apart on this boat.

The control module looks awfully simple. Pretty much plug and play, correct?

Is replacing the old LCD gauge with new one as simple as pulling a few screws on back side of dash?

Can i replace this stuff from just working under the dash, or do I need to pull dash apart?

Any insight would be great.

thanks,

Craig

Should be pretty straight forward. Can't access back of dash from underneath.

To access the gauge,

Remove 2 screws from 'bu emblem below the gauges & one screw top center - the whole gauge cluster will then tip forward/release.

The master module should be pretty much plug & play for the wires - may have to re-drill mounting holes.

Before you remove/replace anything in the PerfectPass you need to go in to the advanced settings screen (I don't remember how to get there since I don't have a PerfectPass anymore) and get the advanced values that are stored for your boat. There are things like KdW (Pull Characteristic), NN (Paddle Filter Factor), Paddlewheel Factor [yes, it's different] and any presets that you may have in the old module. Check all of the settings available in the old unit and record them otherwise you're stuck "reinventing the wheel" this season.

Here's the manual for the mechanical unit:
