We are still considering. I really like the one you posted in Waco. If we were to buy something it would definitely need to be a boat without a tower.

Hard to beat the space in the SSLXI, but it's still no V-drive for space considerations. FWIW, I'd take either one for $20k.

My only concern with the v-drive is you are losing some of the handling you have with the direct drive. Direct drives handle like a sports car and I know my old man loves that aspect.

i think it's worth it to hold out for a v-drive.

The only good this is we already have a v-drive with our T22 to fall back on.

I am drawn to that yellow boat. I just think they are a little high on price. I wonder how much the tower is worth and what the repair cost would be for the gel work.

Anyone have any opinion on this boat and the price (http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2000-Malibu-Sunsetter-LXI-669374). Seriously considering pulling the trigger on this boat. I can probably buy it for $19k or so. It has a mismatch dual axle trailer that will need to be painted but overall condition of the boat is nice. Hull is a 9/10 (with a few small defects) and the interior is probably a 8/10 (small pinholes on rear seating).

I would love any thoughts or opinions on the boat!

This boat is significantly bigger than our current CB 196. The tower will probably be removed (the only reason it would be kept is for the bimini). With this boat they gain space and still have the feel of a direct drive (there is something to be said for that). This boat won't have the space of a v-drive but it does have some positives to it as well. At the same time, it would be great to be back in a Malibu again!

i would hold out for a v-drive personally. getting into a newer/bigger boat will be nice for a year or two but once the new boat smell wears off you'll be wishing you got a v-drive IMO.

If you don't want a tower, look at this if it is still available.

That one looks a little rough for the money. It's definitely been sitting in the water and the interior looks like it hasn't been babied. Apprcitate you throwing it out there though. There just aren't very many of these boats out there.

Even though we already have a V-Drive?

A few more pics here. http://www.skipperbuds.com/Page.aspx/diid/8654054/list/InventoryList/pageId/9033/view/Details/2000-Malibu-20-SUNSETTER-LXI.aspx

Outside looks worse, but maybe just needs some good cleaning.

The vinyl looks good, but carpet needs a good cleaning. Always and option to ask for less. Probably a consignment sale, I would expect a dealer to prep it better.

They hard to find and if they are in good condition, they go quickly.

Don't know if you have ever used SearchTempest to search. http://goo.gl/0yoaq3

Good luck on your pursuit.

Do you have any thoughts on the yellow boat I linked above? I just don't to get to deep into a boat.

It looks fine from the few pictures posted. I'm guessing it is closer to you to check out. Everyone starts asking higher than what they would take. I would try to get it for around 20K.

2003 in Illinois is asking for 25K with 600 hrs about the same options. This yellow one looks a little nicer on the outside.
