Lake Travis good news...

If this is Lake Travis in Austin...it's very sad. I was on this lake about 13 years ago and fell in love with it. My former company invited us on a booze cruise and we had such a great time. It was scenic and very fun.

Seems Texas lakes have gone from too dry to too wet just this summer. I feel like it was Mid April when I was wishing for another foot of rise at my lake...as of this morning it's 5 ft over flood stage!

Wow - you just thought you knew the lake right now.....when the debris clears, no telling what will be lying under the water.

man thats crazy. What's it forecasted to crest at?

I don't think cresting any time soon is an issue, it's still 25 feet low. Although with all the recent rain and remaining runoff to make its way down they may see close to full pool for the first time in a decade.

So how does all that stuff get cleaned up?

Keep in mind that there is >7 years of dead, rotten wood that wood have normally sunk to the bottom. A lot of it will water log and sink in the next month.

Most of it will be blown to northern shores when persistent summer wind kicks in. It will gradually break down, or folks on the northern shore will pull it out and burn it.

I've never seen this level of driftwood, but we get it every year (on our Dallas lake) with just a 2-3 foot increase in lake level.

It is so depressing and frustrating because I just got my LSV right before Memorial Day and we have only been out once for a few hours and just hit 4hrs and now all the lakes are all closed until further notice becauSe of too much rain. Have been waiting to get back out there so I can finalize my stereo and get everything dialed in

Cedar Creek is open and great. No driftwood and no high water. Only on hour tow southeast of town. Where there is a will there is a way.
