2016 F-150 to Have Auto-guided Trailer Backup Control

So there's a knob you turn in the direction you want the trailer to go. You already have that, it's called a steering wheel. Put your hand on the bottom of the wheel, and push it the direction you want the trailer to go.

Here's another fascinating backup option coming...

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/07/remote-control-trailering-is-only-two-years-away.html

This sounds interesting. Imagine the ability to get out of your truck, walk back behind the trailer and control the backing from your phone or ipad. I thought more about the 2016 backup aid that Ford is bring to mark and I agree, it doesn't seem to add much value. Maybe the 2016 version is just a halfway measure to remote controlled backing?

(I know Bawshog won't be purchasing this...)

Maybe they'll make a bracelet to use with the system in '17? Trailer Band? Backup Band? I could launch the boat while sitting in the boat on the trailer and my wife is in the drivers seat, just watch out, every time you press a button the wheel spins around and might rip out of the driver's hands!

too soon?

So picked up the new F150 yesterday and thought I would spend a bit of time setting up the "Pro Back Up Assist", but not before removing the hundred or so dealer stickers!! All was well I measured and placed the sticker (what the system uses as a reference) then input my numbers into the system. Then let it find the sticker to calibrate, it couldn't find it. Kept thinking the boat jack was the sticker.

So I spent a few hours figuring out the issue and it came down to my C measurement was too short (from back camera to middle of sticker). The only way to fix it was to get the hitch lower to increase the measurement, which is a problem cause the Furd squats too low with a straight hitch and I can't get it hooked up. So ya, glad I got that option. :(

Setup is a '16 F150 and '14 23' LSV. Tri-axle trailer but the book didn't say that would matter.

Same boat and a 15 F150 . . . My truck only squats <2" with a dual axel trailer.  It basically level the truck from the factory rake.  Do you have the FX4 off road package?

Here is my hitch height, but after rereading your post, not sure if it will help since there is no drop either.

Bought the Limited model so no FX4 option. Might have to look into airbags next season.

Try lowering the hitch even lower, sometimes excessive squat especially with a multi axle trailer is from having the hitch too high.

Kinda a conundrum, it's on a 2" raise and I can barely get it hitched. As in the wheel jack is hard to get stowed. On the straight shank hitch the jack bottomed out before it was on the truck. This is on a '16 F150 Limited.

Since the season is pretty much done (up here in Alberta) I'm gonna do some airbags over the winter to solve my dilemma.

Assuming a fulton f2 the jacks are adjustable. 1 bolt that lets it slide on the mounting bracket. If the hitch is too high the bags are not going to do anything more than make the truck ride like crap.

Well things I learned today lol.

It's the Fulton for sure and sad to say this isn't the 1st or 2nd one.

I just adjusted mine on Friday, they've got that bolt in the middle and a Allen bolt, if it's like mine you'll need a breaker bar to loosen it.
