How do I remove my swim platform?

Recommended Posts

So I've had this boat for 6 years , but I've never had to remove the fiberglass swim platform. It's an '08 LSV, and now I need to pull it off to see if It will fit in the garage of a house were looking at buying. I tried to get it off the brackets on the back of the boat, but I couldn't. It used a rubber mallet to try to pound it up off the brackets, but no deal. I put a 2 x 4 under the bracket and used a hammer to try to beat it up off the bracket, but still no go. What's the secret to getting this thing off?

Make sure you pull the pins out. There is one on each bracket. We found that having two people worked the best. One on each corner, lifting up the front of the platform (not the edge against the boat) which will help release it out of the bracket. So it comes away from the boat on maybe a 20 degree angle. Goes back in the same way.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks guys, worked like a charm. My original problem was I could not get the pins out. Took some lifting on the platform to allow them to get loose enough to pull them out. Quick and easy, once you know the trick
