Yukon Denali brake controller wiring

Just picked up a 07 Yukon Denali for a tow rig. I have trailer brakes on the boat trailer and I am going to put a brake controller in the Yukon. In the manual it talks about needing to unwrap a red w/ black wire and hooking it up to a stud in the underhood fuse panel. Just wondering if anyone is towing with one of these vehicles if you could tell me which stud your wire is hooked to on the front side of the fuse panel. thanks

You have electric brakes on your boat trailer? Most are surge.

I don't have a GM in front of me but from memory:

Stud #1 (30 amp) is for brake control.

The wire between the junction box and fender is the one you need.

Stud #2 (40 amp) is for 12 volt charging power to the 7 way.

The wire for that one is inboard of the junction box towards the motor.
