Clear taillights

Goign to swap out my old boxy tail lights. Thinking of going to a clear led like boat mate runs http://www.amazon.com/Jammy-J-535-R-Slimline-Multi-Function-Trailer/dp/B00JORKH76/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426630120&sr=8-1&keywords=slimline+led+trailer+light

Or maybe one like this http://www.amazon.com/Chrome-Surface-Trailer-Lifetime-Warranty/dp/B00S9ZPTEK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1426630308&sr=8-9&keywords=boat+trailer+clear+led+tail+light

Thinking of doing two per side one on top of each other if I do the slim lines and not sure if I would do two on the ovals or just one per side.

Also does anyone know if the boatmate dual tail light is actually a tail light and reverse light or dual taillight?

The U-bolts are gone now so they won't be in the way(welded now).

Any suggestions or comments?

I don't think any of them have reverse lights but I could be wrong. Mine has clear lenses but they are all red lights. The reason the reverse light is wired to the trailer is for the surge brake release so your brakes don't lock up while you back up.

My Boatmate trailer has reverse lights. The clear LED lights on mine are reverse and the red lens LED's are the stop/turn signals.

Shown on the factory wiring diagrams.

You can see them in this picture, the reverse lights are the outer clear oval lights and the signal lights are the inner red oval lights.

The look I am wanting to replicate is how my local dealer has been ordering them.

They have two of the thin ones stacked on top of each other.

This is not the best picture but you get the idea.

Do the reverse lights help?

No idea, the only time I've ever had to back the trailer in the dark would have been into my garage and there are so many lights on the front of the house and garage that I would have never noticed the ones on the trailer.

Guess I haven't seen surface mounted lights like that on a Boatmate before. They definitely look easier to retrofit than the ones on my trailer - couple screws vs big oval holes.

I find the reverse lights most helpful when I'm backing the trailer down the launch ramp at night. I don't do it too often but the lake I go to has no power so it's like backing down into a black hole. My garage is pretty bright so not much help there. But definitely helps on the ramp.
