Baby On Boat

got me, I just took delivery of the boat before years end and straight to storage it went. Haven't had a chance to really look at how the heater works or how accessible it is. Guessing just remove the kick panel.

Edit: looking at heater craft website, the heaters are hydronic and shutting off hot water flow would remove the heat and the heater would not be in danger to operate this way. At least that's my understanding. Anyone else think it's a danger to the heater to do this?

Yes, you can put a ball valve in the heater supply line to control the hot water. Mine is next to the engine where the hoses head down toward the bilge. I have a direct drive, so it is easy for me to lift the hood and move the lever.

There's lots of good advice in here, and I'm by no means an expert. My son was born last March and we had him on the lake and in the water by 3 months:

We went through several different vests as the year progressed and as he became more active. I will agree with the comments someone else made about watching for chaffing against the chin area, but we had this problem with both the nylon vest and the neoprene vest, it was all about getting the vest adjusted right on him.

As for what to do with them on the boat, well I figure the sooner I teach them the ways of the water, the better pulls I'll get from him later so:

And then, as far as noise goes, I don't know about muffs, the hummmmm of the engine put my little guy to sleep usually. The rest of the time we kept the music down and played a lot of DMB and Jack Johnson which seems to be great music for keeping my little one relaxed and chill. Even during the 4th of July Fireworks on the lake! :)

I love the swing idea for when we're anchored out, especially when trying to keep him from direct sun. The swamp misters are a must, even for the adults on our lake in August (water hits 100+ during the day with air 100ish too) .....

In any case, having them on the water makes it all so much more fun, I can't wait to take him for a surf set this summer and a ride on the hydrofoil!

we strapped a playground swing to the bimini/tower (not while underway of course). between the waves and the swinging motion the baby slept...well...like a baby. also kept the baby out of the sun.

@Kalamazoo - any chance you can share a pic of how you connected?  Our first is on the way this year and I'd love to see how you connected to the boat.

@MustGoFast Congrats on the upcoming.  I've got the same swing, both boys did great in it.  The swing has clips on the tops of the ropes. I just wrapped it around the tower and clipped onto the ropes.  Very easy.

We used a swing like this for my nephew.  He slept very sound while we let the older kids swim one afternoon.  I just looped a rope around the tower hoop and put a towel under the rope to keep from rubbing tower.  Many ways to do it.  This little guy had a hard time in the heat and we already had the swing so figured "why not?"  It kept us from having to take someone back to the dock.  My wife's only question was "why didn't you ever do this for our kids?"
