Prop size & Specs?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has a 1999 Sunsetter VLX with the Monsoon engine, the boat is out of state and they need to order a new prop, does anybody know the stock prop size and specs?

The old prop is still on the boat and it is completely trashed...

Thanks!!

381 - 13.5 x 17.5 .105 cup

537 - 13.5 x 16 .105 cup

1125 - 13.5 x 16 .150 cup

1161 - 13.5 x 16 .135 cup

I would pull the old prop and then check what prop it had. The diameter and pitch are stamped on the outside spindle area of the prop.

I just tore up an Acme 537 which is 13.5 x 16, 4 blade. I did not really like it because it topped out at 43 mph and hit the rev limiter ar 5200 rpm. I also have an OJ 14 x 18, 4 blade and it tops out at 45 mph at 5000 rpm, not hitting the rev limiter. I believe the 14 x 18 is stock. I might try an Acme 381 13.5 x 17.5. Does anyone have a 381 on a 98 vintage vlx, and how does it work?

The 381 was probably the origional prop.. The hole-shot is a lot different between the 381 and the 537.. your choice - if you'd prefer those extra two mph on the top end.

Personally I don't drive 43 very often - but I pull people up from a dead stop, with lots of ballast frequently.

I now run a 857 and pull 42 at the top end.

Whats the specs on the 857.

857 is like running 4:10 gears in your truck... pulls stumps, but runs a little faster at crusing speeds. I can still turn 41-42 top end, having to modulate the throttle to keep off the rev limiter

Specs: 13.25" diameter, 15.5" pitch, .060 cup
