Small paint chips.. rusting

I have a few small paint chips on my fenders.. and one on of the crossmembers scrapped the ground and now thats rusting.

whats the best way to go about touching up these small areas?

I've been using a paint pin on the chips and it has seemed to work so far. Not the prettiest solution, but it is either that or rhino lining it. The cross members I kind of went that route. I sanded, primed and shot them in God fobid, "Flex seal". It is just shiny enough to blend in under there and pliable enough to stop the chips. I suppose I could paint of the FS, but I haven't been able to consider myself that bored yet!

Sand rust off and get some matching paint and touch it up. I used some enamel engine paint on the scrapes on the bottom of my trailer. I went all out on fenders though and stripped them to bare metal, epoxy primer then base cleared them with ppg auto paint. It just depends on how much time/money you want to spend on it.

I'll sand and paint the crossmembers, doesnt need to look pretty since its out of sight.. the fenders arent bad enough for to want to repaint the whole fender.

What about INSIDE the trailer. I just noticed today theres rust inside. Is there anything I can spray inside to stop the rust?

Well yes there is but it may be hard to get to.

This stuff is pretty good but works best if you can get most of the rust off.

As for the fenders just touch them up with something close until it gets bad enough to repaint. It's hard for me to keep people from stepping on them with rocks in their shoes so they get scratches and rust again pretty quick. Just do enough to keep the rust from getting out of hand.

Are you in salt or fresh water?

Galvanizing is your second best solution, and an aluminum trailer is the best. Trying to keep the trailer you have from rusting is going to be very difficult.

I would bet that the amazon stuff you showed is just phosphoric acid. Don't use that where you intend to use an automotive paint later. It will all blister off in a year.

If you just must put something in the tubes (and you have me thinking about it now), I would recommend a few good coats of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer. The trick is figuring out how to get it in there. I like the hose and nozzle thing that you can pull through the frame.
