Allen Wrench Size

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know what size allen wrench is needed for the Illusion X tower board racks. Mine is 100 miles away and I need to purchase another today so I can mod it. I can't tighten the racks with the speaker installed.

I just mounted Titan racks on my Illusion and used a 3/8" allen. I'm guessing it's probably the same size, the head of the bolt fits perfectly inside the recessed opening on the inside of the tower.

Thanks!

Which racks did you get? And, did you get the lift-off option. I am not very happy with the Metcraft racks and have been thinking about replacing them.

I have the Titan cruiser wakeboard racks....actually only one so far, the second rack is on backorder until next week.

Yes I did get the lift-off option as well. I just mounted them yesterday but they look pretty solid....to be expected from a Titan product.

I'm taking the boat out this weekend with wakeboards and a wakesurf board, so I'll have a better review on Monday.

Here's a pic of the lift-off mount on the Illusion. Titan includes a jig and drill bit to remove the powder coat inside the outside holes for the studs on the mount so the lift-off will fit flush against the tower.

FYI:

Go to Wally World and you can pick up a SAE and Metric set of allens on a nice little key ring for $0.88. I keep one in the boat and they come in real handy.

The problem is I needed a 3/8 with a very short length to fit between the tower speaker and tower. I have to remove the tower speaker to tighten the racks.

You can still go to Wallyworld and buy the allen wrench fittings for a ratchet wrench for around $10. That's what I used to tighten the bolts vs the standard allen wrench. It might solve your clearance issue.

The racks worked great. I was a little worried because I realized after putting the tower up that instead of the racks sliding in the bottom and snapping in the top of the lift-off clamp, the racks actually slide in one side and snap in the other because of the mounting holes on the Illusion.
