Koal powertail

This seams to be an interesting board. I am planning to demo this on Friday. Supposedly the wider tail will help washing out the back of the wave... Has anyone ridden this board?

I am also demoing a soulcraft fang tail. I suspect the Soulcraft will be better, just not sure it will be $500 better...yes, one of our local pro shops carries Soulcraft!

Okay here goes, initial impression with standard setup, too slow, did not like it. So took out center fin, tried it in a thruster configuration. Better but still loose and not enough drive. Third and final configuration, thruster style 4.5" fins, (ronix fins are 2.9"). WOW, this board came to life, tons of drive, much more stable in the carves. Litterally night and day, turned into an incredibly fun board. I liked it will enough to purchase one. Now i just have to order a new set of fins.... Our local board shop is clearancing all summer stuff so there are some good deals right now.

IXFE, do you know what size fins were on the board?

Comes with 2.9" fins, i used 4.5" fins HUGE DIFFERENCE

Not sure, but they were little. I assume 2.9"

I was wrong... the Carbon comes with two 2.3" fins and one 2.9" thruster fin.

When I rode the regular model pictured above it only had the two 2.3" fins in place.

That material is much more durable than the standard powertail eggshell,

Do you think it is any thicker than the 2014 style? The carbon thruster doesn't fit well in the stock swivel wake/surf rack

Weird, I own the regular PT (the exact one you have pics riding) and it came with 3 2.9" fins.

Yeah, my first impression of the regular PT was that I worried about the finish... looks delicate (aren't they all?). Then I rode it and really liked it. I hope I like the Carbon as much... going out tonight, albeit on a smaller wave.

I'll grab another pic of the thickness today, but it looks the same as the regular PT.
