Minimum garage door height

Looking a a house this weekend and wondering what minimum height I need to put a 24 mxz with tower laid over in the garage

Basically you need a minimum of an 8' garage door, the standard 7' garage door will no longer cut it on these boats. I have been looking at houses over the last 2 weeks and have been bringing a tape measure with me and that is the first thing I look at when I arrive at the house. My other thing to check if it has a 7' door, is there room for a shop and if the lot is big enough to build a shop with easy access to it. So far, nothing I have looked at has really appealed to me.

If you look at the specs that I linked to, he needs 8ft 2" with the boat he is looking at unless he is pulling off the tow hoop each time or installing the garage hoop.

Yeah, I noticed that, but at least with an 8' door he can still get it in with a little more effort. I doubt he will find many houses with over an 8' garage door though if he is dead set on storing in the garage. At least in my neck of the woods, I have not seen many.

Good luck with your house hunt! Also, make sure there are no HOA/POA restrictions or covenant and restrictions against building accessory buildings of having boats or other items parked outside. A lot of developments/communities do have these restrictions as well as other restrictions.

Don't see too many garages deep enough to store a 24ft boat either ;)

Thanks for help guys. It is a second house for us on our favorite lake. Inlaws have a family friend who just finished building this house in a new up and coming sub division on lake. Boat slip is just off back yard. Plan is to only store boat in garage in the winter. Since it is a second home I am fine with it taking all three stalls up if needed to make it fit in at an angle. Really wanting to avoid a yearly indoor storage payment if we end up with this house. Also thanks for hoa advice cause I had already forgot about that.
