Maxxis 8008 - any good?

Seller said they are 4 years old. Seller is BoatMate Trailers and price is 50 bucks.

Talked with them about 10 minutes ago

Theoretically the shelf life of trailer tires is 5-7 years, but as long as they have been stored decently then they are probably OK. $50 is a pretty good deal, basically 1/2 price. (The $173 original price they have listed is crazy)

Normal price would be $98

I threw theo and brother retically out the window after I shredded one of my Trail America tires this past week. Luckily a buddy of mine caught it before it blew, but the tires were on an 11' trailer and could not have more than 2500 miles on them.

Seeing what BoatMate can do as far as shipping goes.

Shipping was pretty cheap when I bought a mounted spare from them.

The tire that blew - inflated to max psi and no curb damage?

Weird. Seems odd that the tread looks like it is all wore off the sides if it wasn't under inflated.

Do the other ones look similar to that?

I had one tire on my '12 BoatMate trailer looked almost identical.

Not under inflated, nor over. Took it to a tire store and they said "Defective Tire". The belts inside had come apart.

Only one tire, on a trailer that lives in my garage. And similar to Murphy, it was a friend who pointed it out before we started on a trip. Thankful he noticed it before it went.

Boat mate does not carry those tires anymore. I have learned real quick that boat mate is not a fan of those tires and the boat mfgr pretty much dictates what tire is used.

That is why they have those maxxis tires, boat mfgr wanted them at first and then realized they could make more profit with a less expensive tire

The Trail America are the same tires that are on my 2012 trailer, and it is what I thought they sold me in April with a spare rim but I guess I didn't look too close at the tire brand. At the time I thought it was funny that they were charging a premium to get Goodyears - thought those were the worst trailer tire made.
