which way should i turn the tongue. if i'm facing the rudder from the rear, should the tongue stick out towards the right ? my mc tunable was different , not used this one...

Yes, to the right looking at it from the rear. That is of course if you are looking for a more neutral rudder.

thanks, but i dont want a neutral rudder, i want to load it for the course..

Then you will want the it to be straighter I believe. The more you crank it to the right, the less it will pull to the right.

The tab should be toward the left to load the rudder, in the center or to the right will give you a neutral rudder. At least thats the way it was explained to me.

thanks for the info. im excited now because the tab was pointed towards the right and the boat tracked really well, cant wait to use it whne loaded..

LEFT. I believe the predominant effect here is that the water flows across the rudder and hits the tab imparting a significant torque on the back of the rudder and moving the back over to the right making the boat want to steer to the right.

All this debate makes me glad that my rudder isn't tunable. Tongue.gif

sure it is...just takes a grinder to make the adjustment ;)

Yeah, but does it have to be running clockwise or counter-clockwise, smarta$$?

What does it mean to "load" the rudder for the course? Why would you want it to pull to the right?

"Loading" the rudder allows the driver to track the boat straighter for a water ski course. Instead of having to make 2 corrections (left and right) in an effort to stay within the boat buoys while the skier is pulling from side to side, the driver only has to make minor adjustments since constant "load" is being generated to one side. Somebody else might be able to explain it more clearer. Below is the link from Malibu.
