Update on my situation: picked up the VLX this morning. Summerization on the WO but no additional cost. No issues for me.

I'm VERY GLAD to hear that. I know they are aware of the post so I would think they are on their best behavior. If this is what it takes, my work is done.

Unfortunatly no one wins.

Maybe other crew members in the area? Thats worthwile.

FWIW, a call to Merced works wonders. I had some "issues" with my closest dealer (close is relative out here - like 500 miles relative). We had a disagreement about the ethics of some of his business practices but one call to Malibu put it all straight. Mind you, the next time I needed service I went to the next closest dealer, a mere 1000 miles away because I still don't trust the "local" guy. Needless to say I pretty well look after my own service.

De-winterizing a Malibu: The 5 step way...

1) Put plug(s) in boat.

2) Put gas in boat.

3) Put boat in water.

4) Put key in ignition.

5) Start boat and go enjoy the rest of summer.

They tried to charge you for that -rotflmaopmp ROFL.gif

I realize dealers have to make money, but as long as they did the winterization properly their is not dewinterization.

If the winterization procedures leaves you with a block (& heater & shower) full of RV antifreeze, please flush it out before dropping boat in water. PG (used in RV antifreeze) is much nicer than EG as far a toxicity goes but, lets not go dumping it straight into the lake.

Safest reasonable disposal is to poor it down the sanitary drain of your dwelling.

And depending on if your city's storm sewer drains directly into lakes/rivers, is treated (but different from sanitary), or is treated (the same as sanitary) the storm sewers may also be sufficent.

Thanks,

Mike
