thinking of upgrading ballast

Hey guys. Thinking of getting 3 750lb fly high bags, one for each rear locker and one for the nose on top of seats and was wondering if others are using similar or what your thoughts were. Our boat is an 05 vlx wake hull with 4 mls stock tanks engine is the 400hp hammer head 383 and the 1235 prop , and we have a modified fixed wedge and a home made surf gate. We currently run 3 400LB bags plumbed up in these spots and the wave is good but lacks push some days when the crew is small. We surf and wakeboard 50/50 of the time.

Cheers Ben.

I have an 05 VLX also with the 4 stock MLS. This will be my 5th season surfing. I use a 750 in the rear corner on surfside. I fill the stock on surf side, the bow and the center usually full. When I only have 2 or 3 people total. I have a 300 lb that I manually fill and sit in the seat. I think I have a good surf wake. Going with the 750 seems like a lot to me but I have never run like that. I know that if I don't fill the bow my wake is steep but really short. I remember talking to the guys at wakemakers before getting the 750. I was considering the 400 and he said get the 750 for sure and that people that get the 400 usually come back for the 750. You didn't asked about speed, but I have noticed that if I get enough weight I can go a little faster ( 10.5 ) and it makes a big difference in push. Did you post anything about your home made surf gate on here? .. almost forget.. I also usually deploy my manual wedge when surfing.

Hey old waker dude. Thanks for your reply. Yeah our speed ranges from 10.3 to 10.7 mile and yep we have to use our wedge too. And if you search aussie surfgate knock up you should see mine there. Its Pretty basic but it works well for us.

Cheers.
