What are some of your needs? Do you want an transom remote? Do you want bluetooth? Satellite radio? I have an Alpine CDE-HD149BT and love it because it gave me 5v pre outs, bluetooth, and satellite radio.

Hey. 1st off I am not at all technically savvy. Still use an old school cell phone. Basically what I want is a receiver I can plug in my ipod and be able to add a sub and tower speakers too later on. Not necessarily interested in a remote or blue tooth or satellite at present but who knows later. My receiver is under my arm rest. How do I know what is compatible ? Also, are there receivers that u actually upload your ipod into ? Thought I had seen that. Thanks

sounds like a WS420 is all you really need unless you want am/fm radio... if you run off ipod all the time just mount a WS420 under your dash and run everything off of that. no need to waste money on a full blow receiver... i just pulled my old sony receiver out of my 99 SSVLX and mounted a ws420 to run everything under the dash.

I personally never feel that a 420 can fully replace a head unit. I would look at a nice kenwood Excelon. KDC-x898

Crutchfield's and rocktheboatmarinestereo both recommended the

Kenwood KMR-D558BT AM/FM/CD/MP3 200 Watt USB Port iPod Control SiriusXM Satellite Ready Bluetooth Marine Stereo

Thoughts ?
