Axis Recall

Recommended Posts

Description of service bulletin direct from Malibu:
It has been brought to our attention that the crimp specification on the fuel lines provided by our supplier may have changed. The crimp torque for a select few units may not meet our quality standards, allowing for potential fuel leaks at the ITT quick disconnect fittings. While there have been zero failures reported, in the interest of safety, Malibu/Axis feels it necessary to take steps to correct the issue as quickly as possible.

That is a fairly ambivalent statement, just enough to start a thread fire dude.

Let me elaborate.

There are a small serial number range of boats produced in the 2014 model year that were shipped with a fuel line from tank to engine that has been deemed unfit for use, due to an incorrectly torqued crimp. Each dealer and retail customer (if sold and warranty registered) has been contacted by the manufacturer and/or the dealer. Each dealer has been provided a short list of serial numbers and a replacement fuel line for each boat. The replacement on a V-drive takes about 15 minutes, and longer on a direct drive.

There obviously were not many shipped with the bad line, as the production date range is pretty short from what I can tell.

Hope that provides a better picture to owners of a 2014 Malibu or Axis. (And perhaps other mfg)

Peter
