Can surfing a listed boat overheat monsoon?

Recommended Posts

I have seen several older posts about Cats overheating while surfing. My boat is a 2007 VLX with a 340 Monsoon. I have the black nylon fittings going into the Cats. My question is who has had issues with overheating from surfing? Has anyone tried the replumb kit from indmar, or is it not worth the hassle?

I see steam out of the right side when surfing as the cooling water is not pressure fed... failed a nylon fitting nothing catastrophic as some have failed motors.... I have installed the brass fittings and have the re-route kit in a box waiting to install. Speaking with the dealer dealer the primary issue has been the CATS don't see water until the thermostat opens which has driven alot of failures (not sure if it is correct). One thing the dealer said is a good way to minimize the chance of failure is let the boat fully warm up before running it hard (good practice for many reasons) to ensure water flow to the cats.
