engine cover welting

Hi new to this forum just finishing a redo on a 1989 skier . I replaced the floors ,stringers ,you know the drill . I just finished the carpet and the last thing was the engine cover, pulled of the vinyl and the carpet replaced the carpet carefully reinstalled the vinyl went to staple on the welting that covers the transition from carpet to vinyl and the stuff disintegrated. Any sources on the stuff?

yah it,s the stock black stuff they cover the division between the carpet and the vinyl on the doghouse. they also used it on the drivers seat to cover staples

Thanks for the info ,that's not quite the same but it seems to be the only option

FYI, those pics on the site do not show the staple channel. That actually shows the bottom side of the welt. The top side is almost exactly what I pulled out of mine which was original. Allows you to spread it apart and run staples in the channel then flaps back over to cover the staples.
