Skipping Tracks Bluetooth

Alright, I've officially confused myself. Is what I want to do even possible?

I have a sony stereo head unit with a USB input where I could plug my iPhone in and it went inside the head unit. I could then play pandora and when I wanted to skip a track use either of the remote units to control it.

However, my new iPhone won't fit. It's too long. So I'm thinking about adding a bluetooth dongle. When I do that, I won't be able to skip track with the remote controls though right? Would wireless enable me to do this? Or could I get a bluetooth via USB connection?

Any help on this life altering question greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Claire

Is there not another USB input on the unit that you could use and just use the USB cable that came with your phone?

Which head unit are you using?

I had a Sony HU on my old boat and used the wetsounds BT adapter. To control I just got a lifeproof case and the lifeproof life jacket and brought my phone to back of the boat for control.

Sounds like you're a little confused what Bluetooth is. Bluetooth is a wireless (non-USB) connection mainly used for 2 purposes; phone calls and streaming/controlling music. It depends on the app and dongle that you're using but most of the time when using Bluetooth, you will be able to control skipping from the HU, the device, or any remotes that do the same thing as the HU. You need to make sure the dongle you get is capable of streaming music.

So, to answer your question, yes, bluetooth will allow you to skip songs. Let us know the model HU you have and the dongle you are thinking of getting.
