Used HH Long Block Worth Anything?

Recommended Posts

For those who might have been following my engine drama it continues to unfold. We have decided to bite the bullet and install a brand new 383 in the boat. That leaves the current motor in need of a home.

So, my question is this: What, if any, value does a used 383 HH long block have? Mind you this was rebuild by Indmar just 80 hours ago. Through a scope there is a piston with wear marks but we have no idea the full extent of damage. There was not a catastrophic event or overheating, it was just sucking down a lot of oil.

Honestly, it is worth whatever the core charge is on your new motor. The fact that it was rebuilt is not relevant if you have scored pistons - which also likely means some metal in your oil.

Sure, a four bolt small block core has value. Might be at your local short track or drag strip as an option.
