inlandlaker 968 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) It's done!!!Thank god! It's seemingly taken forever for all matters to properly align to allow for me to grab a good boat. Today, I completed the purchase of a 163 hour 2006 RLXI with a swoop tower, Monsooon 340, Wedge, tower bimini, and a jump seat. I could not be happier about the buy. For what I spent, I think I've gotten a great deal. The boat is not pristine however it will be when I'm done. For any of you who have followed the "help me find my new boat" thread, you'll note that the new ride has some issues. She was towed at some point with a cover. Bad news, there. None of the rash is terrible and a good compound will get it right. No need to wet sand for those matters. However, there are some spots that may require a wet sanding. Most are below the waterline. No biggie, but I'm anal so I'll fix it. There is also a dime size chip out of the gel coat that's in the black on the keel. While at rest, it's located below the waterline whereas on plane, it's above. I'm going to fix it myself using spectrum. There are 2 other spots, each of which approximately 2.5" long and 1/4" wide that need to be filled. Again, I'll do that myself using spectrum. The carpet and vinyl are generally dirty. Not terrible, but not to my standards. I'll be working on that in the next week or so. As I do, I'll try to capture some before and after shots.Outside of that, the boat is simply a touch dirty. I'll update this thread with before and after pics of various problematic conditions, all of which are easily remedied. That said, she's home now. Here are the most recent pics of the new boat. I'll update this thread as I get her where I want her. All I can say now is I'm super happy to have a world class slalom boat and look forward to many years of enjoyment out of her.....or at least until the TXi becomes more affordable. PS...don't mind the purple garage! It was like that when I bought it 2 years ago. Obviously, I had other plans with time and cash...oh...yeah....I had to put power out there to, so don't bust my chops on the color.....it's soon to change. inlandlaker 968 Posted April 24, 2014 Thanks!! I'm pumped! I've been out all night checking on different products for different applications in terms of cleaning. There's a bit of rash on the gel from the previous owner towing it with a cover. I tried using 3M finnesse it 2 with marginal success. I need a slightly heavier product and I'm good. I don't think it requires wet sanding.I love new to me boats! 1 Go to top

inlandlaker 968 Posted April 24, 2014 Thanks all for the well wishes....@tvano.....Since my hoist is not yet in the water, nor are my docks, I'm going to take the time to get her in the same condition as my old SSLX before I put her in for the season. It makes keeping it clean much easier. I may even have to take a day off work to get it done the way I'd like to. Go to top
vigwilson 28 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Looks great man should have a nice wake or lack there of! I'm picky about scratches too. Any ones I find in the spring get wet sanded, compounded and polished before I wax. I'm glad you shot for that boat it's really nice. I'm a sucker for red and black Edited April 24, 2014 by vigwilson 1 Go to top
BlastRlxi 444 Posted April 24, 2014 Congrats on the new boat. I love the colors although I am biased since they match my last boat. I'm glad you're happy but more importantly, is the wife happy?Better not waste too much time working on that boat, you have a pontoon to start looking for.Best of luck with it! Dare2goBare 1,196 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Thank God is over......lol........Congrats man! She's a beauty....my colors to...Now it's time to sit in her with a six packcrank the tunes and take it all in. But that towers got to go......if I find a second T3 I'll let you know........lol....Edit:Regarding trailering with the cover. Give the boat a good wipe down, then wrap shrink wrap over the Window frame and around the rub rail.I do two wraps. Cover on now rubs the shrink wrap not gel or Window frame.Works great. I picked up the wrap at Home Depot, comes on a nice handheld spool. Edited April 24, 2014 by Dare2goBare Go to top

She was in the house when I brought it home. Since our garage is across the street and 2 doors down, she decided not to look at it last night. I really don't think she cares now that the purchase is done. It's toon time in her world. I think her opinion will be different once she's in it and drives it. I'm going to keep it this season and see how we like it. If it's something we want to keep, I'll be looking for either a T3 or XTP. Both look great on that boat. Time will tell. 1 Go to top

Especially if she drives while you ski! 1 Go to top
