Adding a 2nd battery advise

Recommended Posts

Ok, after a previous post I think I have a plan. I am ordering the Blue Sea "add a battery" kit and will install it using the existing group 24 battery for a starting battery and an optima blue top grey case deep cycle battery for the house battery. In a few weeks I will replace the optima with an Interstate SRM29. My plan is to keep it like this until I feel I need more house power (probably not), then I could add another SRM29 to the house bank.

Does it matter if the house and starting battery are not the same?

The alternates "charging" wire should be on the starting battery correct?

Any issues with my plan?

My stereo system consists of;

HU

400w sub amp (will soon be 1000w)

400w tower amp

400w in boat amp

WS420

Nope, not in your plan

The alternator feed, if it happens to actually connect to the battery, needs to the on the switch, along with the main starter cable.

Any issues with my plan?

Not at this point
