Homemade Teak Platform

Recommended Posts

skikid

I'm sure everyone else is getting the summer bug and ready to get on the water!

Given my excitement I am getting a little ambitious and want to build a teak platform for our boat.

We have a power wedge so no worries about a trap door.

Any tips or tricks for this project?

Thanks

Good router and sander, and make it solid--no gaps between slats. Other than that take lots of pictures and use enough support underneath. Find pics of factory platforms and mimic that.

Can't wait to see it. Still trying to find a wide enough piece of teak to cut into a matching curve and re-space mine to get rid of the gaps. Not good on our feet or the dog's.

I'm in the process of rebuilding mine using tigerwood instead of teak. Got my lumber at advantagelumber.com

I just put some larger screws in mine, sanded it, and soon I'll oil it. I hope it turns out as good as I hope!
