Security / locking tower speakers?

Just picked up our 2014 VTX which included an upgraded Samson stereo system and speakers. We have heard of other folks on our lake having their speakers stolen (they just cruise by at night, crawl in the boat and steal them!). Is there any way to lock these or secure them somehow to prevent them from being stolen?

I don't want to take them on and off every time we use the boat, we use it too much so that's a huge hassle.

Would love to hear any ideas! Thx in advance for your time.

They aren't installed yet, weren't in when we picked up the boat. Just trying to plan ahead, as I don't want to head out one morning and find out some tweaked jacked them for his next fix. But if they aren't quick dis-connect, I will look into some kind of unique bolt / nut, that might help.

We had our motorcycle trailer broken into, and then someone cut the electrical chord off our motor home, so we're a little sensitive about this! Really upsets us, we live on a nice lake, tweakers just cruise by because we and our neighbors have nice stuff....

Appreciate the ideas!

You could try adding a continuity alarm to the speaker circuit so that it yelps and strobes if the circuit is unplugged or cut.

You could also get more sophisticated by using a small GPS tracking device and placing it inside the speaker can, like a SPOT Trace, so you can watch it on the move and let the po-po arrest the whoever is in possession. The perp gets caught and you'll get your stuff back.

Regardless, expensive stuff like that is usually pawned or resold within a few weeks, so take the time now to add a unique marking that will help identify them as yours if ever recovered.

Couple summers ago everyone had their batteries and other stuff stolen out of their boats except for mine ... heard my alarm chirping that night ... which is a warning before it goes off full blast. With all the expensive gear in our boats I say this is cheap insurance:

I think Bobby Light also has a Viper setup in his boat.

Another option something like this:

Interested to hear more about how this is set up. On their website it doesn't look like they make a marine version.

I had the alarm installed around 2006 and I think it was around 300 bucks. Heck a good life jacket is around 100 bucks. Throw in other gear and stereo equipment ... that makes 300 bucks seem cheap and there is the peace of mind.

My boat is either on the lift or in my driveway and the Viper offers perfect protection.

Do you have any examples of the alarm? Is this what you have installed? This is exactly what I was thinking about doing on mine but I have not found anything yet. I may have to jerry-rig something together
