What hull, confused?

Sorry for another thread. I noticed on the coast guard tag / maximum capacity plate it said my boat is a sunscape 21. But the boat has Wakesetter decals all over the boat & was registered as a wakesetter. Just curious if there is a difference or what?

Thanks Pete. Was getting worried I have a ski hull.

Even if it had a ski hull it might have wakesetter decals on it. Wakesetter is some broad term for Malibu v drives. My vtx says wakesetter down the side but has the diamond hull (ski hull)

Yep. Same here. Everything on my boat is Wakesetter (vlx) including the gelcoat, but I have the diamond hull which technically makes it a Sunscape. Post a pic from the back showing the chines and we can tell you what you have. If it looks like this, you have a diamond. Note the reverse chine to the far right. post-4769-13968775404465_thumb.jpg

In 2002, you could build a "fakesetter" Which means start with sunscape, add in all of the options to make it a wakesetter. A few years later, malibu changed it to simply buying a wakesetter and checking the diamond hull option.

Easiest way to tell if you have an actual wakesetter, or a fakesetter is look at the hull. Or easier yet, look at your VIN. Does it start with MB2K?

If it is a "K" it is a wakesetter. If it's not, it's not (i believe sunscape 21 was a Z)
