Moving a lift in SE MI

Does anybody in SE MI have any contacts that can move a lift? I need one moved about 30 miles. Also, has anybody ever moved one on thier own? What is the best way?

I moved a shore station about 10 miles on back roads straped to a landscape trailer with the legs hanging on the ouside, just have to watch for mailboxes and oncoming traffic.

Moved my father inlaws last fall on a rented 4 place snowmobile trailer. 4 guys and a high-lift jack - picked it up and slid it onto the trailer with the legs hanging over the sides. Perfect fit for that lift.

You can also move it on your boat trailer, very stable and long enough that you can likely leave the canopy on. Obviously, you have to launch your boat somewhere first.

Edit: canopy FRAME

:plus1: on the 4 place snowmobile trailer. I think if I remember the lift is less width if its on the side. No canopy frame on legs off or as shot as you can make them.

We had it sitting upright with the canopy frame on - canopy fabric taken off. Legs were left on too, just raised up all the way.

Only moved it 10-15 miles though

Strapped to a flat utility trailer as described above. Not heavy so not much load capacity is needed assuming typical aluminum lift. With a canopy tree limbs might be the biggest obstacle, w/o no issues.

You can always take it apart. It takes about an hour and its a good chance to check that all the hardware is ok. Thats how I got mine. Guy said if you can get it out of the water and off my property its yours.

I moved a 4000lb shore station from Livonia to northern mi on a flat bed trailer. Completely assembled with besides the wench tube.

I have moved several. I alway use a pontoon trailer, the kind that fit between the floats and cranks up/down. I jack up the lift so all 4 legs are as high as they go, slide the trailer under, crank it up, and away we go.

Once out of the water I then retract the lifts legs and lower the pontoon trailer so the center of gravity is low. Then strap the heck out of it. In my experience it's the easiest way to do it, especially if you are only going 30 miles.

I completely agree. That's how we move ours every season.

I multi tasked and took lift and dock on snowmobile trailer 140 miles north. post-22245-0-76437300-1396582085_thumb.j

Had to take apart the other lift in order to carry it up the hill.

Funny story on first lift. Not funny at time though. Got up to cabin late at night and drove down driveway and made first turn. My wife asks if she should get out and guide me around next turn since it's dark out. Like any typical guy I said I got it. Make the turn and feels like trailer is stuck in mud, so I put in in 4 wheel drive and gas it. Get out and see that I rammed the corner of the lift canopy into a tree.

Thanks of the ideas guys. I decided to just have a company move it for me. I found one with very reasonable rates. If you are in SE MI and want the contract info for them PM me.

When I bought mine i put it on a pontoon trailer, the fixed position kind, and hauled it down the highway 150 miles completely assembled minus canopy cover. It was a real pain. I would do it differently now, but what an adventure.
