New prop and trailer prop guard question

Hey fellas, I just installed an acme 1235 on my 2000 vlx. When installing, I could barely get it on there because of the prop guard. Got it torqued down and everything is fine, except I only have about 1/16th of an inch of clearance between the blade if turned to it lowest point and the prop guard on the trailer. What's the best remedy to create more space without a completely fabricating a new guard? Can I possibly bend the current one to give more space? Thanks

Could you raise you trailer guide pads? Lift the boat up just that little bit

Just use some packers under the skids between the skid mounts at the rear of the trailer.

May need longer lag bolts depending on the packer thickness.

To get access

Chock the wheels

Drop the front of the trailer down to ground level using a car jack with the jocky wheel swung out of the way.

Pack a block on a pair of car stands under the rear

Jack the front up & the rear of the boat will come away from the trailer.

Remove the lag bolts from one skid at a time

Insert the packers & reinstall.

Reverse the process to get the boat back on the skids.

Jacked the front of the trailer up.

Packed the block on the stands under the front just in front of the tracking Finns

Dropped the trailer down to get clearance on the front skids to repeat the process.

A few hours of tinkering best done on a flat garage floor

If I were using longer bolts, I think I would want the boat off the trailer while messing with the bunks.

Ya I think I'll take the prop back off and put boat in water and then do the bunks. My boat already does not rest on the roller beneath it in front of the bunks. Should I raise that as well?

Is it the original trailer?

Keep in mind when you drive the boat on the trailer is at an angle and the boat is flat. Then you secure the nose of the boat and as you pull away the boat slowly sits on the trailer. By the time it sits on the trailer it should be clear of the prop guard.

Is the boat all the way forward?

The front eye is all the way against the front roller. The trailer is a Dorsey tandem axle. I'm just worried about it catching as it is extremely close.
