Fram vs Napa vs K&N

Recommended Posts

What's the part number for the monsoon 350 in the napa gold? That seems to be an adequate filter for a reasonable price. I've been using the filter from the dealer up until now but plan on switching to napa gold.

+1 for Baldwin. Awesome filters, try industrial suppliers like tractor supply houses. My John Deere dealer has a pretty good selection. WIX, Fleet Guard, Motorcraft, even Toyota/Lexus (I know what your gonna say, just have them find one that matches up, somewhat limited on the last one there, but great filters if they fit) back in the day I'd use old school Toyota Landcruiser filters on a Ford diesel.

In high school we did the same experiment but with a typical 15" round air filter. we took off the edge and unfolded the pleats to see how long it was. Fram was about 6 feet. A couple of the others went 1/2 way around the room and one went almost 3/4. Never bought a fram filter again. They spend gobs of money on advertising and nothing on quality of product.

Fram is real garbage. Several years ago, I thought the Mustang I bought had some marginal oil pressure (it was a high mileage 5.0). I got it from my buddy who had been using Fram and had been that way for a while. Swap to a different oil filter and magically it had great oil pressure again. I didn't use anything fancy, just a standard Puralator.

BTW, they were 43% off a few weeks ago after the Super Bowl.

You're good.

Somewhere around here (on the crew) someone posted an article that ranks all the oil filters.

It may have been me few links to help. K&N and Mobil are the best and are the same inside so I buy Mobil for everything I own.

Used to use Napa Gold 1069 then switched to Amsoil Ea24 years ago when I switched to synthetic oil post 100 hrs break-in. Any details on the Amsoil filter? For the $ they better be good but I only use one a year so cost is really no big deal.
