Transfer warranty on 2012 LSV

transfering a warrany is ridiculous, why would the manufacturer not put the warranty on the boat?? Should it not be on the boat, regardless of who owns it?

What a stupid system.

Totally agree! Had a couple small issues with my 2011 VLX that had 13 hrs on it and the warranty transfer wasn't even an "option" made available to me. I got mixed information about what could have/should have been done after the fact because I was moving it to Canada and the whole warranty thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily the dealership here in Ottawa is top-grade with a good group of people running it and I was able to get support from them and eventually Malibu at the end of the season. I think basically the idea I get is that the company itself (Malibu) really wants nothing to do with the boat after it's been sold and rests all the BS on the dealers to deal with. I wrote the president a letter, he wrote me back and said "I'll look into it but really it's not our problem it's the dealers problem". I commend him for at least writing me back, but there comes a point when as a manufacturer you have to take responsibility for a component that fails on ALOT of your boats; in this case it was the MTC. Malibu came through with a new screen for me with a push from Hurst Marina and in the end everyone wins.... But it wasn't exactly a cake walk. Bottom line is it's an awesome boat, great dealership, but the company (Malibu) itself could most definitely use some work in the customer-care department.

The above is all just my opinion, feel free to disagree and flame me.

Ryan, I totally agree with you. It was about $800 to transfer my 2011 warranty to new owner, should have been a freebie for the price I paid for the boat. Anyone who does not research this could easily purchase a 2012 Malibu and have the seller tell them its covered for another couple years and just assume this is the standard, no different than a vehicle being covered under the remaining factory warranty. I bet this happens more often than people realize, its also strange how they seperate the power train warranty with Indmar and boat warranty from Malibu.

I often wonder if Skiers Choice, Nautique and Mastercraft all have the same warranty transfer requirements like Malibu?

I was reading up on the SC warranty on Supra and it's pretty much the same as Malibu where the buyer has to have a dealer inspection to transfer the warranty. Iirc, there was even a time limit to do it in.
