OJ 5 Blade vs. Acme 5 Blade

Has anyone had a chance to try these two props? Very curious! I have read some really promising things on the OJ, but not much out there on the Acme.

They were the new fad a year or two ago then the whole subject went silent. I don't think they ended up working out as well as folks had hoped. 15" 4-blade props are the thing everyone is going to now.

you are exactly right. They (Acme/OJ) were trying to find the niche where the 5 blades would outperform the 4 blades. None was decisively found. Supposedly there are a few narrow bands of application where the 5 blades outperform, but they are so narrow they become infeasible. right now 4 blades still trump across the board.

OP- if you need help selecting a new prop, describe what you have currently and what you are looking for in terms of performance. Be advised though, few folks will be able to comment on which props cut thru ice the best if you do indeed boat up there.

I have a 2012 23lsv and am looking for a better hole shot. We surf most of the time, wakeboard and pull kids on the tubes. Not to worried about top speed. Just want good performance for our play time, limited as it is up here.

I like the cut thru ice... If we could just figure that one out our season would be great....

I have the OJ Cinco.

Factory was the 537 like many boats. There were times when I loaded up with the factory prop that I could not get on plane if there were too many people in the back of the boat. Since switching to the Cinco I have always been able to get on plane. I did loose a couple top end mph, but cruising and weighted rpms both went down a couple hundred (don't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head). Hole shot might be slightly longer in some instances but once the prop starts pulling you don't notice the lag. It is a stump puller for sure. I bought mine from a crew member that couldn't use it with his supercharged engine, bought it for less than I could replace the factory prop for. All in all I can't complain but don't have any other prop to compare it too except the factory.
