this forum is awesome, thank you guys so much for all your input and knowledge...I think I am going to say, "I really like the boat but realistically I can only spend around $11,500 as eventually I would like to put a wedge on the boat." do you all think he will be offended or will he throw back 14,000? I really only wanna go maybe 12,500 max max maximum....considering he will be my personal maintenance guy.

btw-it's a stainless steel prop 15 x 15

If you approach him right, he won't be offended. The approach is something you have to figure out in person. But I doubt he would let it go for $14k, let alone $12.5k. You never know 'till you try though, right?

Mr boat seller, I would really like to own your boat. I'm sure it is worth every penny you are asking for it, but I can only come up with $xx,000.00 at this point. Would you even remotely consider $xx,000.00?

For me personally, there is a lot of value in a boat that has been meticulously maintained and in excellent shape. Especially one that is over 15 years old.

The book value won't be there for insurance purposes in the event of a loss. But for some the intangable value could be $1000's.

And when you buy a boat from a guy like that he will likely stand behild it. I know I would

He said the price was negotiable too didn't he?

Good luck,

Steve B.

He did! Thank you! He is willing to put a spare tire on the trailer and install a wedge as well. this is also before he knows how much I would like to offer him....

Honestly, for what you're looking to do with the boat & the price range in question, I'd be looking for a '95 Sunsetter LX. Bigger, better for wakeboarding & surfing, & will do the job for footers & skiers as well. It was made for exactly what you're wanting out of a boat. JM2C

I bought it for 14...I think it was worth it. I shot for 13 and he said he was more around 15....I went for 14 and he thought about it, said he would call me back within 24 hours and called me back within four hours.

It is my dream boat and will be perfect for me and my family and friends. I'm so excited! I did go to the local boat dealer and they all agreed after I showed them the pictures that this was a GREAT deal and such a steal as they would sell that particular boat for over what he was asking. I found, thanks to you all, a few online but they are all states away and I don't have time to travel to get it. (did enough traveling when I used to live in Colorado and drove back and forth through Kansas, kill me now.) I plan on going out at 3 times a week and being brown as a burnt biscuit by August. Thanks for your time and consideration all! I will be asking many questions for the future I'm sure! xo

Now, if any of you are willing to sell any equipment such as a wakeboard for kids, or adult (not looking to spend much money as it would be for friends, family learning), water skis, trainer skis for kids, wake surf board, fat sacks (ballast), pump for sack, wake skate, wet suit for woman size 7, towable tubes, ropes, hydroslide big disk (around 41" diameter, wood, we used to use one called the star board, had a big star on it) I don't really need life jackets unless you have an awesome one for cheap to throw in on a deal. Thank you for your time~

Congrats. Based on your comments on the seller, I would carefully nurture that relationship as it sounds like he is nearby. One thing about boats, there is always some sort of maintenance (winterizing, impeller change, steering cables...) or items needed and it sounds like he could be a very valuable resource and potentially save you a lot of money over time.
