A horse named Malibu?

I saw this photo in a restaurant in Destin last weekend, and it really brings back memories of how Florida used to look before everybody had to have a giant condo on the beach.

Anyway, I think the caption said that it was taken in the late 1950's or so. I love the story told by the photo, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the skier is going to reel in his catch if he gets a strike....

... but I think they were just "horsing" around after surf fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

As far as I can tell, this picture was taken on the west shore of East Pass, facing south. That's the one place left around here, by the way, that you could take the same photo today and it would look substantially the same (except the swimwear), since the US Government owns it. The other side of the pass does *not* look the same.

Enjoy!
