Seems I read somewhere that a simple temp test is if you can put your hand on the riser for a period is a good ck of your impellar performance if your temp guage is acting weird. anyone remember that discussion and if so how long do you leave your hand and would this also apply to the tranny??

I supppose if you leave it on until you start to smell that Bar-b-que bacon smell -- that's TOO long.

I talked to someone the other day that confirmed that if you can leave your hand on the risers that the manifolds and risers are in good shape. Also, to sort of test the raw water pump's performance, the plate on the front of it should be DEAD COLD when the engine is running.

I'm gonna start a poll on risers.

Edit: BTW, he did mention that one side should be warmer than the other. I remember someone on here asking about that.
