Anyone used this service to sell their boat? I was contacted today by this company http://www.popyachts.com/ to sell my 06 VLX that I have listed on here and Craigslist. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

Don't bother. They are pretty much a rip off. Do a search on the internet for these guys. Not a very good reputation at all.

they contacted me on the sale of my boat about a year ago. Nothing ever out of it and was kind of a waste of time.

Only if you want to ask way too much for your boat so that it takes a year to sell. Only to give them 10 percent in the off chance it sells through their website.

I've looked at that site when in the market for my boat. I just didn't like how they play middle man, and it seemed like such a hassle. I'd recommend selling it private party; usually individual sales work out better, and you'd probably make more money. Unless of course you want to trade in your boat for a new one at a dealership.

On a side note, here in Texas I do know that there are dealerships (like where I bought my boat) that are somewhat of a consignment shop; they'll only make a small profit and they'll market your boat for you.

I agree. Waste of time.....their only concern is lining their pockets at your expense. Total waste.

Look at the dealer consignment option if available. My dealer sold my Rinker after I bought the Bu. Got what I wanted for the boat and didn't have to talk to the first buyer. Took only about a month too.
