Monsoon 340 Knock Sensor

Recommended Posts

I did my winterization this weekend and when I went to remove the starboard drain plug, I removed the wires and put my 3/4" deep well socket over the knock sensor to access the nut and the nut just spun inside the brass housing. (Usually the whole housing turns and I never knew this was two pieces) I had to put a set of channel locks on the brass housing to un-thread from the block. I have taken this plug in and out 4-5 times now and never had an issue and I'm real careful when installing not to over tighten. I found the replacement at Bakes but curious if anyone else has had this issue.

The sensor is original so 10 seasons old so probably time to replace anyway but surprised me when the inner housing just spun. I will try the old one on spring startup to see if it works and if so will throw in the box for spare parts in a jam.

I shredded one the same way. Now I put the bronze anti seize ointment on the knock sensor before installing it. No problems since.

Anti-seize properly used is a boater's best friend in my experience.
