Key ignition question

Recommended Posts

ToeCutter

Hi TMC - I checked the owner's manual but found nothing on this. Fairly obscure issue but one that's got me wondering.

The key ignition on my 2005 (Australian made) VLX has a few positions.

I put the key in and out when it's in the vertical position. I turn the key one position to the right (clockwise) and the system powers up. I turn it right one more to start the engine.

I'm wondering about the key position when I turn it left (counter-clockwise). I can't remove the key and it doesn't activate the accessories so I'm wondering what use it serves.

It's supposed to power the accessories. On our '01, it enables the clock & depth finder. The stereo is on a separate dash switch.

Just like cars used to be, thats the ACC position. Usually, its only the stereo that works.
