Sportster quit running

Recommended Posts

MalibuBnut

1998 Malibu sportster with the 310hp.

Recently replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor and, the fuel pressure switch. We were out this weekend and the first day the sporty fired right up and ran perfectly all day. The second day the sporty did not want to start. After a few cranks I got it running. About 2 hours later the sporty cut off while I was turning to pick up my buddy. I got it running again and made it back to the dock. I can't figure out what it could be. Any ideas? I use stabil. My gas gauge does not work all that well the boat was at max weight to. I know I was kinda low. That's the only thing I think it could be. I just want to make sure I check anything it could be cause I am going out this weekend too. Any help will be appreciated.

Just last week my boat cut out after coming around a point, towing a footer. Couldn't find any issue, so took another footer and it did it again about the same corner. It must have been low fuel for me. Can't believe we got another footer (4 miles) out of it after it cut out the first time. Fuel in tank was super low (by visual inspection) by the time we got back to the dock.

Low fuel is the only thing I can think of. I have replaced everything this season. But it really seems like a fuel issue. It's about to be the last weekend and I really don't want to get stranded in the middle of the lake again this year. It was a left turn when it cut off.
