Response trailer measurements please

Recommended Posts

Can someone please measure from the back of a Response (bottom of the hull) to the center of your trailer tires? Or from the most rear skeg to the center of the wheels?

My BU is a ’01 Response Lx, I know other years have the same hull. Maybe your BU is in the garage and you can just drop a tape on the floor and get some quick #s.

Please!! & Thank you!!

I need to know because I want to move my axle forward because I have too much tongue weight. My axle is bolted on so it should be an easy job. No cutting, welding or grinding. The trailer is an aftermarket and they did not get the weight distribution correct.

I know the distance from the axle center line to the wheel center line could be different with different axles. That is why I said to the wheel center line.

I know some will say buy a new trailer. But everything else with the trailer is ok. So, I am not ready to spend $4,500 for a new one.

Thanks for the help,

No measurement for you as it's in the boathouse on the dolly...but just put the axle roughly centered between the engine mounts and you'll be fine. In addition, it can vary from trailer to trailer to reach optimum tongue weight for your situation.

rear bottom of transom to axle ct is 73.5"

rear bottom of transom to ct of hitch ball is 272.

my tongue weight is pretty close to 370 lbs.

i suspect if you calculate a proportion using the length of your trailer you can come pretty close to where you need to be.

Center of engine sounds like a good plan.
