Pylon pole stuck down, Is there a trick to pop this free?

I tried to raise my pylon pole for the 1st time on my 07 VLX the other day. As I under stand it, Twist the head and pull up right?

The head just spins freely and never actually turns the lever/bolt to unlock and raise the pole. Even my buddy with a 2011 VLX could not get it to raise.

Am I missing somthing, or is there a trick to this?

Lobbing watermelons, I'll try to refrain :-)...

If you do happen to unstick your pole... then try sanding the contacted surface with 320 or higher grit and spraying it with a moderate amount of clear penetrating grease and wipe off the excess.

I had to use a bottle jack on top of the transmission to get mine out, then I used my die grinder with a 400 grit sanding drum on the poly inside the tube. Now I take it out every year, wipe it down, and shoot some silicone spray on it.

"unstick your pole"??? what the heck are you doing, and where has that pole been?

Had the same issue.. Once I was able to pull the pylon pole out, I used a round file and went around the plastic poly tubing a few time shaving it down. Worked like a charm.
