To Sea Foam or Not

Recommended Posts

Well crud!

I replaced my cap, rotor, both fuel filters and added Sea Foam. Took it to the lake yesteday and could not get the darned thing to start. First time that has ever happened.

There was a smal amount of black crap that came out into the catch pan when I disconnected the old fuel filter near the pump. Checked that I have planty of fuel flowing to the input side of the filter and I do.

It tried to start but seemed like only one cylinder firing.

Now what??

Did you get the cap, rotor & ignition wires back on there right?

How did you add the SeaFoam? There are a couple of ways I've seen it done, depending on what your trying to accomplish. An oz per gallon of gas added to the tank is supposed to treat the fuel.

When I changed the cap I only moved one wire at a time to insure no errors.

I added slightly more than 1 oz per gallon into a gallon of gas to pre-shake, then poured it all in.

One thought that occurred to me is maybe the little springy thing on the center of the rotor needs to be bent up a bit to insure good contact with the center of the cap. I will try that tonight.
